A digital camera is a more expensive but way better investment. Think of all the film you will have to buy with a regular camera and then scanning pics. If the price is right go for it, especially if you have alot of pics already.

You can get a workable digital camera for $60 or less. Most of the pics I post or take I use a 640x480 small dc, and it works great.

If you get a scanner, consider a multipurpose machine - a flatbed scanner, copier, printer, etc.

I have two and they both are great and convenient. One is a Lexmark (yes, it really works) and the other a HP.

Have been through many scanners, and these work as well or better.

They are frequently on sale.

Some computers I hear work better If there only hooked up to one thing at a time ...I guess this Is refering to windows 98se[not windows xp]In any case I'm going to take the short 3 hr. course, then I'll think about a scanner afterward & If i do get one I do not think It'll have a printer with It at least not with windows 98se :o

I have 98SE on the Compaq running the lexmark and have used it with the HP - both multifunction, and they both worked great.

Although 98se is pretty lousy in general, I have never had nor heard of this particular problem.
