We're getting a group together to ride from 92/Canada to Foothill for the Memorial on Saturday.
Pete

Hey everyone, copied this from Kristy's Memorial site

Memorial Ride

Team Roaring Mouse Cycles and Third Pillar Racing Team are holding a joint
memorial ride this Saturday March 15th, to honor the lives of Kristy Gough and
Matt Peterson, our two teammates killed on Steven's Creek Canyon last Sunday
while on a training ride. We welcome friends, family, fellow cyclists and all those
whose lives have been touched by Matt and Kristy. Our ride will include a visit
to the site of the crash site for those to share their memories

When: Saturday, March 15th

Where: Leaving from Foothill College

12345 El Monte Road,
Los Altos Hills, CA 94022

Google map to location:http://tinyurl. com/2b6qvb

**We kindly request you do NOT drive out to the crash site during this time, as
we need to keep cars to a minimum in the area, given the road conditions.

Time: Meet at 2:30pm, ride by 3pm

Length: 30-45 minutes to the crash site. Base pace (ie, mellow). No drop.

Route:

I may bailout on the TT if the times conflict. I'm heading down and represent NorCal if anyone else is up for it lets work it out. I might even head out from Canada/92 and cover their last ride route.

Pete you could do Canada to Sand Hill to FH Expy to El Monte and meet them at the start of their ride. I don't think there will be any conflict since the TT starts pretty early, with only 1 min intervals.

Yeah if you're talking about the Beat The Clock TT on Cañada Rd., that will be over with in *plenty* of time to make it back down to Foothill College by 2:30 (3:00).

I plan to bail on the TT and just do the memorial ride (because I don't want to drive down there twice from SF). How long is the ride from Canada/92 to Foothill college? I'd be up for that to save some driving and get in a few more miles on the bike.

Distance is about 15 miles, mostly flat/light rollers.

Like I said, you could easily do the TT in the morning and still do the Memorial Ride, even if you were the very last TT start. If I were not tied up already, I'd make a day of it: do the TT in the morning, ride back down to Palo Alto or Los Altos and grab some lunch, then head over to Foothill for the ride.

I think I'd be down to do the ride after the TT.

Let's see (for me.. thinking aloud here):

- 15 miles to the start of TT
- 10 mile TT
- 15 miles to Memorial Ride (with lunch along the way)
- 14 mile Memorial Ride
- 25 miles home

So around 80 miles (plus trainer warm-up time at the TT). I might do this.

Pizza Man, and others wanting to do the TT, I can join you on the ride back.

I’ve decided to skip the TT this time. It starts around 8AM, so I’d want to be there by 6:45 to warm up. I already need to leave Sunday at 5:15 AM for the Zamora road race & I need to catch up on sleep. I’ll sleep in Saturday & just show up at Hwy 92 & Canada at 1:30 (leaving by 1:45) to ride down to Foothill College to join the memorial ride.

Feel free to meet me at 92 & Canada or somewhere along the way. I’ll be the guy in the Morgan Stanley kit.

Sounds like a good plan.

Anyone else want to meet up at 1:30 at Canada & 92?

EDIT:
What about this route (to get to the start of the memorial ride), instead of the standard Foothill Expy option?

Anyone leaving out of San Jose? I'm actually thinking about CalTrain to Mountain then head over the Foothill. Would lie to meet at 92 and Canada but not sure on how to get there.

The memorial ride group is meeting at 2:30, but not leaving until 3PM, so we should definitely be there before 3PM.

Maybe a bit earlier even.

Like meet at 1, leave by 1:15-1:20.

Both this route and the FH Expy option are the same distance, around 19.5 miles.

Depending on who shows up, completing either in under an hour might be difficult.

Is this ride going to be rain or shine? The forecast looks like rain for the rest of this week, with a chance of thunderstorms on Saturday.

They've promised very light rain if any. I'm gonna bring my Zoe bag with some rain gear if needed. It was mentioned that it will be cooler, so make sure to dress warm.

If you're passing through San Bruno, I'll join you. I can meet you up at Skyline/San Bruno Ave if you're coming down Skyline or elsewhere if you're coming via Bayshore or Mission/El Camino Real.

I'm planning to ride from my home in Willow Glen to join the assembly at Foothill college. An alternative for those coming caltrain is to ride from either the downtown station or Tamien, through Willow Glen and Campbell up to Foothill expressway. Anyone coming that way, let me know!

I changed my mind, Cathy told me I should do the TT. I think I'll probably go for a ride afterwards, kind of have no idea what I'm doing. Maybe ride my bike over to Palo Alto for some Pancakes or Half Moon bay and get some climbing in. Depends on my time. Kind of just feel like spending the day on my bike. Let me know what your planning. I dont know if Alan is out on the time trial or not.

This is a response to Curtis mail I just got:

I decided to do the time trial Sat. morn. My start time is 8:10 2 mins before Marco. So my goal is to not have Marco pass me. Seeing the way he rides It's probably a slim chance I'll stay ahead. Other than that I guess a bunch of us are meeting at woodside around 1pm. In between I have no Idea what I'm doing. So I'll probably kill some time and try to get a good ride in and some breakfast.
I'll see you guys there. I'll be in the black and yellow BF kit too. See you then. It's gonna be a wierd day.

Pete,

I start at 8:12:30. So you have 2.5 mins. That would be a very tough gap to close.

My damn knee is still messed up too. I think I have a slight pull/sprain on one of the tendons directly behind the knee (right above the calf).

Take care of that. You don't want to make it worse.
