Fifty Plus (50+) - 1500 cyclists storm Georgia Capitol

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The Georgia Rides to the Capitol event had perfect weather, a good turnout and plenty of dignitaries on hand to see about 1500 riders who rode to the steps of the state Capitol to show support for making bicycling as transportation safer and more accepted. So many Atlanta area Mayors and other local and state officials participated as riders in this event that it makes me think we need to start getting some of our local officials involved in our high profile events.

Led by Tecumseh Sherman no doubt.

Way to go. We need more rides like that one.
Maybe if the former governor of New York had spent time on a bike he wouldn't have spent $4300 on a 2 hour fantasy.

Did I poo in your shoe (edited) or something?

Note: as a lifelong resident of the town that was the Capitol of Georgia during the War of Northern Aggression, I probably have a different point of view about that @$$^*!# than some people from parts of the country that did not have the opportunity to host him and his troops during the March to the Sea.

Check the Flickr link. The last few shots in the slideshow are a sequence of him mounting that bike.

Do you guys have a 3' law in Georgia? Are you pushing for one?

Maybe we should give Spitzer a break.............at least he was out riding.

A bill has been floating around for a 4' passing law, but I don't know if it will make it this session.
