Hey Chicago Fixers...
Anyone ride a black, lugged frame (top tube is wrapped), front brake, cowhorn bars fixie? I saw it locked up on Adams, by the river, across from Union station today. I work right there at 120 S. Riverside. Never seen it before, but it sure looked nice!
Just checkin'
hey 165,
if the bike you're talkin' about has one black wheel and one red one than that's me. I call it "the brown brawler," it used to be that color as per:

isn't riverside that really weird street?
jeff

Not sure it is even a street, more like the enormous sidewalk between buildings and the river. The only real streets are Canal and then all the E-W (Monroe, Madison, etc).
You work around there or just visiting?
I had to take the train to the 'burbs. I was kind of hopping someone stole my seat so I could buy a new selle italia flite. I looked for another fixed that might be yours but didn't see any.
My friend works at Deutche bank around there that's the only reason I know riverside. How about you??

I braked up my Surly for the winter. Mine is the one that hangs over the river side of the railing. (blue-n-white tape on the bars
Hey Guys!

Just kidding. Why is it I haven't seen your bike around town? I'm out there riding downtown every freakin' day! Sheesh!

Not sure... we know I ride the LFP morning and night to the Loop/Rogers Park. Maybe you are lurking, or scared, or too busy to pay attention to us. What, you think you are too good for us "senior members?" I talk to almost everyone I pass on the trail (things like -"Get the F outta the way" or "Go back to Lincoln Park"), so maybe you be more social and start asking everyone you met whilst riding if they are 165-48:17 or stickerguy.

Hey-didja get yer new bike or what?
Just remember that Springer got his start in Cincinnati. He was, afterall, our mayor at one point. If I remember correctly he was known for paying hookers with personal checks.

Look, you pseudo-suffering, public school product...senior member!
;)
Hey, I don't see you out there when I'm out riding at 4:30AM. Maybe you should be looking for me, what do you think.....
I didn't get the new bike. As predicted by the Yojimbo guy, my bike runs like butter, so there's no need to waste the money on a new bike after all. I'm ok- I'm going to pace myself and save up for the new better bike next year.

Marcus at Yojimbo's? First time there? One of my favs!
Get a track/fixed gear (hint hint!)...better than an indoor spin class could ever be!
430am...let's see. Curled up in bed is where I am!
Yeah, it was Marcus, and no, it wasn't my first time there. I've been going there since mid summer for all my repair needs.
There's no way I'm getting a fixie- I want a nice road bike I can show off with, not some silly one gear, old school bike! Sheesh, what do you take me for?
;)
J/K, but I really do want that road bike for real.
Anything is better than an indoor cycling class- if I can get on my bike, I'm gonna get on it before I choose getting on an indoor bike!
If you ever are up at 4:30AM, look for me...

Um, I thought a nice, caring person, but you have proven me wrong!
:D
430AM on the LFP?
What bike you ride? Prolly not a fixie, but 'ti okay. My fixie is a single speed on the winter (bmx freewheel+brakes)
Dood, I've got a silver Specialized Sirrus A1 hybrid bike. I have black grips with silver stripes, and 2 silver water bottle carriers. I also have a unique cell phone carrier that most people stop me to comment on. Plus, there's only about 6 other folks on the path in the time that I'm out there, so it shouldn't be too hard to find me if you ever feel up to an early morning ride....

so 165 and I need a room and so do koffee and 165. jeez. this is like barhopping in lincoln park. ;)
a bunch of us last weekend biked down to soul vegetarian (75th in the south side) for some african hebrew vegan food. totally ruled. maybe we should have a chicago bike forums love-in there.

Maybe I just need my own room with an occasional visitor. Wait, I am old and grizzled so stay the hell away!
:fight:
ha ha
what we should do is have a Holiday get-together dammit. Figure out a place or two and have as many people meet there and say hello. May strengthen the community, may not. Who knows. I think it would be cool to meet a lot of you suckers. And then everyone who has ever wanted to slug me in the gut can do so WITHOUT RETRIBUTION! Whaddyathink (about the whole thing, not just punching me)?

I went to SF a few weeks ago, and it reminded me of the lack of personality in San Diego. To wit: lack of really good homebrew restraunts.
No wonder I cook so much of my own food.
A chicago get together is a good idea. At the Handlebar perhaps? There seems to be quite the Chicago contingent here.
