Last year I was riding a hybrid but the end of last month I bought a Specialized Roubaix & I plan on doing a lot of riding this summer. I am in my late 40's so I'm not a spring chicken. :D
My first goal for this year is doing a century ride the first of June (co-worker twisted my arm) so that is what I'm looking at now.
I car pool with my wife 18 miles to her work & plan on riding the 7 miles to my work (weather permitting) & once the weather gets nicer I will ride the 25 miles home after work once in a while (at least once a week) just to get some rides in during the week.
Last weekend I rode 35 miles Saturday, 22 Sunday, & 25 Monday. I also rode some the week before. I have 200 miles on my bike.
I have been told that eating is just as important so I was hoping for some suggestions of eating.
I heard that fig bars are good & so are banana's.
So far when I get ready to ride home (25 miles) after work I've been eating an energy bar of some type, & I drink a lot of water during the day but I take a water bottle (24 once) with & drink most of it on the way. I will take another bar with me if I remember but most of the time I forget.
I bought some Accel Jell but I heard that is good just for short burst. I also heard peanut butter sandwich's are good.
I know everyone is different & what works for one person won't work for the other so I was just looking for suggestions that I could try to see if they will work for me or maybe take ideas & make up something that will work for me.
Thanks
