I mounted some Planet Bike Cascadia ATB fenders (http://ecom1.planetbike.com/7027_5.html) on my Big Dummy last night. They look great and fit the 2" Marathon XRs well.

The rear went on easily without any modifications and fits the BD frame perfectly. The fender struts are touching the BD frame so I'll put some electrical tape there to keep them from rubbing through the paint.

I mounted the front fender to the mid-fork braze ons - avoiding the disc brake caliper entirely. However, PB provides hardware to get you around the caliper if you want to use the lower mounts.

One issue I ran into is the massive amount of clearance in the BD fork means that if you mount the fender to the fork crown as you usually would you end up with a huge gap between the fender and the tire. It looked goofy so I made a small bracket from a scrap of metal to lower the fender closer to the tire.

Thanks for the write-up and visuals, vik. I really want fenders around my 2.35 Big Apples, but it doesn't seem that a suitable fender exists...Maybe I need to suck it up and downsize my tire...?

Nice install.

I put some 700c Yellow Planet Bike Hardcore Freddy Fenders on front of mine, but it doesn't look anywhere near as nice as those do.

That suspension corrected fork really messes it up doesn't it?

Well the PB Cascadias are spec'd to work with a 2.25" tire so you are really close. I haven't found a wider fender that I liked. Wald makes some heavy metal cruiser fenders that might be wide enough for your Big Apples. They'd be uber durable if the weight doesn't bother you.

Thanks I was really happy with the way the fenders turned out once I got a bracket fab'd for the front. Without it the uber high fork crown made it look really stupid. It is good to have a suspension fork option so I'll put up with a little hassle mounting the fenders.

The PB fenders were quite reasonably priced so if you have the urge down the road give them a shot.

Wood fenders, you can have them made to fit any size tire. That's a Pugsley below.

Wow. Beautiful! You've got my little brain in a swirly, Allen G...I think that a set of fenders as nice as these would be wasted on my Dummy since it's ALL black except for the frame (which will be stripped of the white stickers). BUT, so glad you posted this link—thank you.

I too have Silver w/black stripe SKS Fenders (I got mine from Rivendell) and they fit fine over 50-559 Schwalbe Marathon XR's AND the 60-559 Schwalbe Big Apples.

sorry for the late reply- all I could find by way of model was SKS chromo plastics. I think they are common as they had plenty of them in the LBS when I got them :)
