Recreational & Family - Tour de Map

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have found a potentially great website that would serve as a resource when looking for places to ride. The best part is that it is totally free:p. It is fairly new though and does not yet have much content. If there is a place that you love to ride, log on and share it with the rest of us. This could be a great resource, but it needs your help to become one. The link to the site is as follows: http://www.tourdemap.com. Another nice feature is that it allows businesses to show their locations at no charge

I hope online features like this will become good resources. The downside is that eventually some good uncrowded rides might become less so :(. A plus all around though if more people ride. Here is another post looking for people to sign a petition for google to make something similar.

I have just read and signed the online petition:

"Google Maps 'Bike There' Feature Request"

hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition
service, at:

I think it would be a cool addition to Google maps, perhaps you will
too. If you can spare a moment, please take a look, and consider
signing yourself. Seems to me that it would also give a person a good
idea about where to walk too.
Planning routes that assume you are in a vehicle can lead you astray,
but if a bike can use a route, than a pedestrian probably can too.
