"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - crits or road races?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I live in Lake Forest, and I am going to be buying a road bike to cross train for XC mtb racing. I thought it would be fun to race in some crits and road races. Do you guys know of any websites to check out to find a race in my area?
Thanks

SCNCA calendar (http://scnca.com/2006calendar.asp)
SoCalCycling Calendar (http://www.socalcycling.com/Schedule/2005/racesched05.asp)
California Bicycle Racing (http://www.californiabicycleracing.org/)
Note that there is a lot of overlap between the calendars but none of them are complete :p

lol yeah I think there are a few Lake Forests in the country. Since it's California, check out UMD's links. They're all I need to fill my schedule with exciting crits and road races.
edit: And definitely check all three of the links. Even though they overlap, I missed one of my favorites (Dash for Cash) because I was just using one of the schedules.

I left out the ncnca list because I didn't think someone just getting into road racing would want to drive way up north

Check the links I posted. Those are the socal race schedules. You will probably have to drive somewhat to most of them though, I doubt there will be many races within riding distance of your house.
Its too bad you just posted this now, the Tour of Murietta was last weekend, that was pretty close to you. In may there is the San Luis Rey RR, just on the other side of Camp Pendelton from you.

if you're in lake forest, there will be races in irvine, aliso, garden grove, and dana point. you're pretty-much at ground zero.

Join a team and pitch in for gas when teammates drive you to events.
Tuesday nights, now through August at El Dorado park in Long Beach...
