View Full Version : How many of you ride triathlon bikes as road bikes.
I'm not talking about group rides, criterium, road race, or winding mountain decents.
Lately, I have found myself selecting my dedicated triathlon bike for my road workouts. Since I have tweaked and adjusted my tri bike, I find the aero position to be very comfortable and can lock into it for many miles. As long as I have open road or a good bike lane, I gravitate to the aero position as soon as I can.

my p2c sits on the trainer 90% of the time. i rarely put more than a 40 mile ride on it
my fuji sl1 gets most of the work... but i just put some pf cgt's on my felt.. we'll see how i like them.. maybe the good ole felt will get some more action..

I only ride my P3 in races really. On the trainer once a week over the winter to stay used to it. I race atleast once a week on it starting in may, so i get enough time in that saddle.
Other then that, the road bike is my go to.

I have 2 road bikes, but neither one is really a tri bike.

Uh.... I ride my road bike during triathlons. Just don't think those "aero" bars are safe :-)

I ride my tri bike about 80-90% of the time. The only exceptions are:
Group Rides (Road Bike) - I haven't done many of these lately as my training for my first IM has been pretty much solo.
Hill Workouts (Road Bike) - I have some hills close where I can spend miles and miles on 5-12% grades.
Short/Fun Rides & Trainer (Fixie) - Just something to mix things up. Also used for rides to the store or to the pool.

Now and then just for practice as my TT bike handles so differently than my road bike, but aside from going to/from local TT's, I don't generally ride by TT bike outside of races. It's just not as fun a ride.
