Wow.......its above 50, there is no snow on the ground and its not raining. The Sun is shining and the final replacement tire arrived to finish the "MaddHatter."
Reconfigured for much looser soil conditions and ready for much further into the woods its now a 27.5 lb hardtail (complete with bottles, empty) but without tools. Tires (IRC Mythos XC) new cassette and chain and a heavy WTB saddle have conspired to add about 2 lbs to it. (I have added about 10 times that much)
Test ride completed...........................see ya.

Well, we have, at least, two more weeks of cross-country skiing, maybe more, depending on an individual's tolerance for dealing with klister. The snowbanks piled up on the lawns are anywhere from eight to ten feet high. I'm riding my studded tire mountain bike to commute to the train station - still some tricky ice patches. I'm guessing the conditions won't be suitable for road biking until mid-April, and even then the road conditions will be dreadful with cracks and holes, bumps and dips caused by freezing and thawing.
...sigh...

Warming up today here (SW Ontario) a little as well - just starting to get some significant snowmelt. However, as in Montreal, still a couple of weeks to go, and have to add that our roads have taken a real beating this year. We've had a few major sinkholes on major streets, and in many areas of the city (including the MUP), the frostheave/water expansion damage is pretty severe -- both potholes and longitudinal cracking/slipping. It's been a loooong winter:(

That's it.......early spring is over. Got in a short ride. Temperature is falling. The rain is blowing in and it may snow again tomorrow.
We now return you weather to your regularly schedualed winter....................

Nice weather here in St Louis today too. I took about an 18 mile gentle cruise. Still felt good at the end which is a marked improvement over the other rides I've done so far this spring. I did absolutely no exercise of any kind all winter and I'm paying the price.

Oh dear. It's about 40 again here today. Trouble is, here on the other side of the world we measure in Celsius. It's an unseasonally hot stretch we've been having.
Lots of fluids!

It was 65 and sunny here today. 35 and flash flood watch tonight and tomorrow. Beats an ice storm though.
