Foo - Politicians as d&d characters

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

how high does your scale go?
That's actually pretty good. He captured the flavor of the original Monster Manual and AD&D 1 rules. I like how all of them are 0% in lair. All it really needs is some artwork from Erol Otus.

Errr....umm... D&D = Dumb & Dumber.
Any Politician could be either one of those 2.

My old highschool physics teacher was friends with Gary Gygax and the gang. I never met them, but my teacher had original copies of EVERYTHING. The very first D&D books(lets) are crazy. gnoll=gnome+troll.

It makes me wonder if whoever wrote that even played D&D, pathetic.

Have you ever played D&D, Strange? You shouldn't dis things that make others happy and do no harm to anyone else. Any way for people to be more creative that does no harm should be encouraged, not scorned.

Actually, I liked it because it did resemble the original monster manual layout of how monsters were defined.

Agreed, I played every gen of (a)d&d until they got to version 3. If I have time I will still visit my friends when I go back home and put in a session or 3.
HecK I still have the books out here for ad&d 2...ahhhh
make others happy and do no harm to anyone else.No harm, huh (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0046/0046_01.asp)? Poor Marcie!

tell that to the guy who i went to HS with who slashed his wrists during a D&D inspired psychotic episode.
his shrinks banned him from playing it, reading/seeing fantasy books and movies after that.
just sayin'

just sayin'With people like that, if he hadn't had D&D, it would have been porn, Catholicism, AC/DC or video games, the outlet is just a symptom. Of course it's good we have hard-workin' folks in the psychiatric profession willing to figure out what the underlying problem is.
But yeah, D&D can be pretty cool when you're 14, but after a while, you do notice all the people who are still playing it in their thirties are the most pathetic shut-ins of all time. Even alcoholism ages better.

Yes I have, it's just the article seems to struggle and sputter around and seems to use non-standard terms along with leaving out a lot of stats that could have made it more funny, as if written buy a guy who has never actually played the game.
Me? I love D&D. ;)
I like RPGs, but we have our own stuff over here. I'm more into the post-apocalyptic tech-heavy mutant-infested kinds myself...
My closest friends of 30 years and I played a lot of AD&D in our teenage years. We have all gone on to lead normal lives as adults. In the 90's after HS other things in adult life became higher priorities. College, work, families so getting together to spend several hours over a weekend and gaming simply was not possible. We still have the books and dice and send the occasional email of geek speak.
The layout of the article had me laughing because it reminded me of the sections of Monster Manual with the greater Devils and Demons and the fonts used are the same.
There are plenty of weirdos though that have issues already and also happen to play role playing games. While working at a pizza parlor one particularly weird guy who was a gamer must have failed a saving throw and lost a favorite character. I showed up in the morning to open the store and get started on the salad bar. Every single 5 gallon box of soda syrup was stabbed and leaking all over the floor in the back area.

Palladin systems? I was a fan of those as well, to be honest I just liked playing rpg's. I was blown away by how many girls played back in the day.
One of my favorites was the road warriors series based on the tmnt rpg which was based on the palladin series (essentially d100)...good times, always played out like mad max movie.
No, the ones we played were called "Mutant", and "Mutant Rymd" (rymd = space).
Swedish games, developed in the early 80s. The same company that produced the two above, also developed a Swedish fantasy-based RPG in the same style as, but less complex than, Dungeons & Dragons. They called it Drakar & Demoner (Dragons & Demons) to get that same "D&D" short form.
You can read about it all here:
