I am just about to start my outdoor track season. Would it be detrimental to bike very much? I know that cross training is good, but what about biking like 30 miles a day on top of running.

Do they train different things and would biking hurt my track performance?

Yes.

On the other hand, if you have a day where your supposed to run on your own and its crappy out, you could spin inside for an 1-2 hours and it wouldn't hurt.

Just don't do it on top of your running.

The best answer depends a lot on the athlete and exactly how much they train during the week. If you're already training 5 days a week I wouldn't get on the bike at all - you likely need that time to rest and recover.
