My best friend is looking for a 100% chromoly bike for the cheapest he can find.

bars, frame, fork, crank you know how it works.

Recommendation?

Edit: I guess I could try to get him sold on a bike that's mainly chromoly. I was thinking he should get like a DK General Lee. It looks alright.

Is it his first bike? Check the sale section of danscomp.com for completes.

Nope. He has quite a few bikes but after me getting a new one he wants a new one as well.

He's basically going to torment the hell out of it which is why I was saying 100% chromoly.

To give an example...His favorite bike has no brakes, went through two brand new sun rims recently,

And has more dings/dents in the frame than any other bike I've seen.

I think he just wants another bike so he can torture it :D

Now, Suggestions?

Some of us suck at grinding, maybe thats why hes trahsing it so quickly. Look on danscomp.com in the sale section for completes.

He doesn't grind. I guess I should have said that the bike he has trashed is like 12 years old.

And he rides it practically every day.

craigslist.org how is that no use? You know what? forget it. Especially for the same guy that says in this relation "Hey guys I am going to get my first bmx bike." How many times must we all hear this stuff? Must we always give people like you the answer all the time? Many of us actually have to find the information ourselves. So please use the "search button."

To correct you. I was asking for advice on a NEW bmx bike. Seeing as how I haven't ridden them in oh, five years or so I thought I'd ask from some people who might know about the brands that are around now. Then my best wants a new bike and is in the same boat as me.

I also asked about a particular bike and got no response to that. I had hoped that someone who knew about this stuff could give input on what I said as well as their own opinion. Thanks.

Actually, you did not mention about a NEW bike on your beginning thread. Did you know that the General Lee was made ever since 1999 and it still looks the same, today? You said you wanted cheap so that is why I said craigslist.org where they have nice bikes that are slightly used and prices that fit everyones budget..

I will answer your bike question since nobody has yet. The General Lee is a great bike for the money and a decent bike to fix up. It has a front head tube gusset which is a nice feature. Comes with a kmc 710 1/8 chain which is a nice touch. The 08 model gives you lots of room to upgrade since these are loose ball bearings on the hubs, bottom bracket and I am sure the headset. The grips I would change too, they are hard and single ply and the barends are plastic. Is it light? Light enough it's a bit over 29lbs. Be more specific next time, don't throw any lip around here, anymore. You are welcome and I hope this answers your question.

It indeed answered one of my questions. Thanks.
