Guess this is for the moderators or Joe. The software that drives the forums looks like an off the shelf product? Reason I ask, is that I also subscribe to some PDA forums and both it and bike forums have a similar look and feel, differ in some areas admittedly, and are 100% identical in others.

What is it called and who wrote it?

On balance the bike forums is slicker and looks nicer overall, so well done Joe and the guys for putting it together and maintaining it. Job's a good 'un!

This looks like the work of PHP Nuke. It's a program that makes pages based on templates that uses PHP scripts and I think MySQL databases. It definitely makes a nice looking site and saves a lot of work over doing your own code, but I understand there is only a limited amount of ability to customize, so you can usually tell if a site uses PHP nuke.
