Here is the new little guy on the block. He was born on January 12th so he is still pretty new to the world. We haven't come up with a name yet but we are working on it. The older one is my little girl Alley.

They are still bickering a good bit with each other but they are playing a little as well. We are really hoping they can get along.

Very cute! We just went thru the naming ritual as well (2 times). My brain still hurts. You can't use Turbo though. That one's taken :D ... unless you really want it :o

[edit] btw, are they rat terriers??? Your older dog looks like one. Great dogs!

He looks like the only dog I had as a kid, named Molly. But that's a girl's name, so how about Linus?

Yes, they are both full blooded rat terriers. Alley is six years old.

Cute Dog..name fits... ;)
But I believe Dogs should have good names just like people...I had a cat name Roberto(Robert) and my dogs are named Laika (for the first Astronautr dog) and Nille (famous Downhill racer Pernille)May I suggest Pepe which comes from the classic spanish Name JoseMaria???
Just kidding..but congrats!!! Give him a good life!!!

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWwwww - man - you guys are killin me with these cute pups!!!!

This puppy, (awwwwwwwwwwwww) looks like what a good friend's dog was named (passed) - wriggley (pronounced wiggley).

He looks all wiggley and stuff. I mean I luv my kitty - but they have such different personalities than dogs.

:) Congrats!!!

NOW TO THE REST OF YOU FOOS!! You have enough animals. No one needs to add another lizard, fish, cat or <sob> puppy to the family for a while. You are all set, if anything give to the ASPCA or something so there are no more cute dam puppie pics posted so I'm tempted.

<looks for rubber band and snaps it on wrist --- have enough animals, have enough animals, have enough animals ...>

Well we made it through the first night. I tried to kennel him around 11:30. At 3:00 am I gave up and let him out. It ended up being the three of us on the couch for the rest of the night. I believe I may have gotten a total of two hours sleep. :(

I may be able to help. We just got 2 puppy Jack Russells recently (at different times). At first we tried kennelling Turbo in a spot away from our bed, but in the same room as us. He cried for 1/2 hour. So we checked out the Internet for possible solutions. They suggested putting a ticking clock in the kennel to mimic their mother's heartbeat. We also moved the kennel beside our bed with the the door slightly open so that one of us could pet him until he fell asleep. It worked like a charm. He immediately settled up against the clock and was quiet for the rest of the night. It was amazing!

We did the same thing with our second pup when she arrived. Once again, she settled up against the clock and fell asleep. There was no crying at all.

For the first couple of weeks they needed to wake up around 2am for a pee and poo and then again around 7am.

If you have a heating pad, you can also try warming up their sleeping blanket before putting them to bed.

The longer you allow them to sleep with you on the couch, the harder it will be to get them to like their kennel.

Good Luck!!! You're gonna need it :D

btw, while they sleep with the kennel door open, we angle the kennel so it's bumped up against the bed and wall so they can't get out more than just putting their feet on the floor. This allows them to get out of the kennel, whine or bark to wake us up when they need to pee.

I forgot to mention, 2 weeks after getting Siren (2nd pup) they both now sleep in the same kennel. It's very cute and they sleep well together. Nice and quiet. However when we need to crate them while we're out of the house, they are in separate kennels. Safer that way. Make sure you remove their collars before you put them in the kennels.

Thank you very much for the advice. Once he is potty trained he will only be kept in the kennel when we are not home. Alley sleeps with us at night so I imagine the new little guy will as well. Alley stays in the kennel when we are at work though, this way we don't have to worry about her or her destroying the house.

What do you all think of the names Hughey or Merlin? We both kind of like those, Alley came up with Merlin because everytime she turns around he magically appears. :D

I like that one but it's a little too close to my name. I would never know which one of us my wife was yelling at. :(

Love Hughey. I like dog names that end with a 'y' because it seems to be easier for the dogs to hear their names amonst all the other human words.

We are also going to have our dogs sleep with us once they get bigger. We want to wait till they're bigger so we don't crush them accidentally. It's more a concern with our youngest one as the older pup is now 11 lbs.

I would go for the name Merlin...it has a bike connection, magic, and it's also the name of a native falcon (so, think fast moving).

Thanks, I think we have decided on Hughey. I've heard the "y" thing before as well so that helps make my mind up.

Here are a couple more pictures.
