I am trying to find a better way to attach my Cyclocomputer sensor to my Carbon Fiber Reynolds Ouzo forks (aero design) and was thinking electrical tape (the zip ties tend to slide around the side of the fork). Will the adhesives on electrical tape hurt the fork? What if I was to keep the sticky side out, would the vinyl on the tape harm the resin?

Will the adhesives on electrical tape hurt the fork?
I hope not, since that's how I have mine... :D

I used black electrical tape to secure the wire and have had it that way for almost a year now with no evidence of harm, so I guess it's good for at least that long. ;)

Well, I will follow your lead. Just remember if your forks fail let me know within a year! :D

clear packing tape works well and has less of a
visual impact as electricians tape.

Clear cello tape works well, you could hardly see them securing the wire..... at least 5 years on my CF fork. It should work on the sensor as well.

Tape works very well. I've had it on my fork for about
4 years untill this year, I bought a wireless computer.

uh, i just took the eletrical tape off of my old CF fork. it has been sitting on there for years, and the material underneath the tape looks as good as brand new, while the rest of the fork is totally banged up. the good thing about electrical tape is that the adhesive doesn't get extra sticky and gooey and all that jazz. it usually will just peel off, no prob.

Thanks for all the replies. My forks are black so electricians tape seems to be what I will use.

Paul L., Where did you get that poem that you use as a signature? That'a great one.

The fork is covered in something like a clear coat (might be clear coat, for all I know) so you're not going to hurt anything. I wouldn't use paint thinner to get rid of any adhesive or anything, but the adhesive itself won't hurt.

(Disclaimer: it shouldn't hurt, but I can't say for sure. Use advice at your own risk.) :)

You can get clear electrical tape(other colors as well).
Specialized and Cateye both use ziptie mounting on the fork, and Cateye has ziptie mounting for the handlebar as well.
