Europe - Local amateur races in Italy, France, or Switz?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'll be in Europe this summer on vacation (bringing my road bike) and was wondering if there is any way to enter local bike races while there (similar to the local racing scene in the US). I'm a Cat4 on the road ("Expert" category for mtn bike) and I'll be traveling thru Italy, France, Switzerland, and Germany during the month of July. Any leads would be helpful. Thanks.

I would email USACycling and the Federazione Ciclistica Italiana (http://www.federciclismo.it/index.asp) to try and get info.

Fédération française de cyclotourisme has a good website with rides (but not races). It might be a good place to start. http://www.ffct.org/
