Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

ok guys I am building an orbea ordu tt bike the the new tri season. currently all i have is the frame and the zipp 404 wheels. I want to build the bike up with 10sp shimano ult/da. Also I am wanting to compete in tris that have rolling hills and hills so I need info on what would be the best kind of crank to buy. Im also trying to figure out what kind of tt bars to put on the bike.
Please everyone leave me some feedback good or bad. If you also have anything for sale or trade please email me as well. Im a poor graduate student so I am trying to build a good bike but get alot of bang for my buck

Is yours a 2008 model? I bought a 2007 Ordu over Christmas and built it up with the Ultegra SL group and DA bar end shifters. Because I already have the PD T2+ Cobra extension from my road bike, I went with the PD Cobra wing for the base bar. I don't know about the 2008 model but the earlier version will not accommodate compact cranks. There are lots of hills here too so I went with the 12-27 cassette.

I guess you only looked at the pics and not the text.:)
The frame is 07. It's built with the Ultegra SL components including the SL crankset, and the Profile Design Cobra Wing base bar and T2+ Cobra S-extension. I wanted to use the SL compact crank but the Ordu would not accommodate it so I had to install the standard crank with a 12-27 cassette. I plan to race the Columbia Tri in May and it's very hilly.
Because I already have the PD extension from my road bike, I went with the Cobra Wing for its look and compatibility and didn't really consider any other base bars. I like my setup because it's fully adjustable but I know the S-bend is not for everyone. I believe more people prefer the ski bend extension.

Where is the columbia tri? I know when it comes to bars im use to the traditional clip on aero v bend i think they are called. Do you by any chance have extra parts laying around collecting dust

Sorry I just got into triathlon last year and really haven't accumulated any parts yet.
The Olympic-distance Columbia Tri is in Ellicott City, MD. It has a very challenging course and it's really cool to have Chris McCormack and Matt Reed competing also.

I have a 12-27 on my Cervelo since I ride a lot of rolling hills. I prefer it to a compact crank.
Crank - KCNC K-type road, external bearings for stiffness, lighter than Dura Ace, http://fairwheelbikes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=87_9_42&products_id=538
or just stick with Ultegra
Handlebar - http://www.hedcycling.com/aerobars/fliplite.php
paired up with

or
http://www.trisports.com/hed-vantage-eight-aerobar.html you can get %15 off at trisports with the coupon "slowtwitch" making it a $600 aerobar. Not cheap but worth it if you ask me.

I just finished building my orbea. I built it up with zipp 404s, all DA 10 speed, vision tri max bars, a fizik arione saddle and some vittoria corsa tires. Its a really sweet ride! Thanks to everyone who posted. Ill post pictures up of "Jude". I love the name Jude bc its the name of my favorite Beatles song. WHat do you guys name your bikes?
Looking forward to the photos ;)
As to names, none of my bikes have one. They are defined merely by what the are: my TT, roadie, fixie and winter bike (soon to be track bike too :) )
