I'm Searching For A Weinmann Wheel Size 27 X 1 1/4. It Fits My Motobecane Grand Touring, Year 78 I Think? Have Been Searching For Quite Sometime. Does Anyone Have Any Ideas Where I Could Find One?

Thank's For You're Help.

Paul

Paul
check the classifieds at Classic Rendezvous, also
post on their wanted ads.
Also frequently check e-bay. Everything eventually ends
up there.

You forgot to mention if it is a Front or Rear wheel. QR or solid axle.

Believe it or not, I've got a motobecane grand touring in the basement someone gave me for fixing their girlfriend's bike, complete with wheels. I didn't see any markings on them to indicate manufacturer, but I think they're original stock. I've been slowly striping the bike for parts, as whoever worked on it last did a really weird job on it... feel free to message me with questions.

Got anything interesting to trade?

Hint: Poguemahone could probably use another Peugeot. :D

It's the rear wheel that I need. Although I just assumed I would have it re-spoked so either front or rear. I did reply to one person that it's a 36 hole wheel. I'm a novice rider, always have been so please excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject.

And I very much appreciate the responses!

Thanks, Paul

If there are any thrift stores in your area (Goodwill, St Vincent dePaul etc), you might check them out. I have found bikes in the $10-$20 range with chrome moly frames & good Shimano or SunTour components & even HiTen frame bikes frequently have Araya or Weinmann alloy rims, some with no brakewear. Among my best finds was a $9.95 JC Higgins 10 speed rusty & peeling paint but which someone had upgraded with a French "Pryma" leather saddle still in good used shape. It also had a perfect set of Araya rim, Shimano hub wheels which I doubt were original equipment. On my way out, in their tool section, I spotted an unknown brand(Birmalux?) alloy rim front wheel which had a low flange Campagnolo hub & Skewer priced at $2.00! Kinda puts a spring in your step.

Gee, all they ever have at my local 'thrift' store is a bunch of rusty old huffys.
