Tandem Cycling - Should the tandem T2000 have a dent on the left chainstay for crank clearance?

I have just recently bought a trek T2000 and noticed there was a dent in the left chain stay and wondered if this was supposed to be there or not? It does seem to be right behind where the crank passes but it does look like a dent that could be from impact?

Is it close? Could you post a photo? Sounds unusual on the left, but tandems are pretty wide in the stays.

If it is the same distance from the stoker BB on the L as on the R and the paint
looks ok, it is likely put there for clearance. Chain stays a bit over sized on
tandem plus the wider R wheel axle length at 145mm typical results in reduced
clearance.

Tanks for reply. trek uk have emailed. It is correct it is a crimp to allow chiansets with a alower Q factor to be used. Cheers Chris
