The 2008 Oredigger Classic, hosted by the Colorado School of Mines Cycling Team, is quickly approaching! The stage is set for April 5 & 6 in sunny Golden, Colorado.

This year's fast-paced weekend of events features:
- A 4-mile individual time trial to the top of the oh-so-steep Lookout Mountain featuring tight turns, steep grades, great views and a thrilling ride back down! We're paying out $300 if you can beat the course record - Tom Danielson in 16:02
- A fast and challenging 3-km circuit race around the CSM campus with a fast descent, fun turns, and a climb to the finish ensuring a close finish and great racing!

Please visit our website for more race information, an event flyer (http://www.mines.edu/stu_life/organ/bike/OrediggerClassic2008.pdf), as well as maps and directions: www.CSMcycling.com

That does sound like fun. It's also quite humbling to see that the course record is more than twice as fast as I've ever made it up. Can't say I'm surprised as I'm just a recreational rider and routinely have my doors blown off by faster riders on the way up Lookout. It's impressive none-the-less.

While maybe not as exciting as watching everybody barrel down Illinios at 40mph, that was a very sane decision.
