Folding Bikes - Folding / Collapsible Bar Ends?

Does such a thing exist? I want to add some to my flat bar, but without compromising the fold.

They are splitable.
I thought I once saw on their site that they provided a service to make just about any set of bars splitable. You just sent yours in and they took care of it... I could be wrong though.

I can't imagine what a "folding bar end" would look like, really. Most bar-ends are are attached with an allen screw and would take as long to remove as to fold.

What type of bike are you using?

I was thinking along the lines of something that could be moved down out of the way when folding, to reduce the folded width. Are you familiar with the folding handlebars on a Strida? Something like that would be great. Obviously, I could just loosen the allen bolt, but that would require carrying an extra tool and would also take longer. Maybe, I'm just asking for too much!!

The 3 way Allen key tool supplied in your Strida seat moulding may actually do! I can't find mine at the moment. Mine's a 3 of course, not a 5 :-( :-)

For the last few months I've been using these:

which I've found much better over long rides than the usual Ergon bar grips. I've had no numb hands at all.

DEowntubes bar ends easily fold or come off, just loosen the allen bolt.

Something like a screw collar that can screw over a hinge to lock it solid (as on a carabiner?)

With my Dahon Mu P8's quick release on the top of the handlepost, I just turn the bars until the bar ends and brake handles are close enough to vertical to be out of the way for the fold.

I really like that QR setup. Is it a standard size, or does it only fit Dahons?

That QR is built into the Dahon handlepost.
One side of that top clamp is hinged and the other side has the QR bolt that you see in the photo.

On the topic of bar-ends...
I found some really neat new Ergon grips with some different bar-ends
(you won't even find these on Ergon's site yet strangely enough)

That QR bar does look neat, yes.

I've got the GC2 Ergon's on another bike, but those I posted above I've definitely found to be more comfortable, & I think it's to do with the lower "lip" on them, where the hands can rest very comfortably for ages. As the price hasn't risen, I'm just going to order another pair in fact :-)
