Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - How deep do you roll?

I just realized I'm been riding alone ever since I moved up from Hawaii, where I was almost always riding with two other people. I'm just curious (besides commuting) how many people do you usually ride with? or at least prefer to ride with?

I commute, ride alone, ride with another person, and ride with a huge group. What should I choose?

i dont like riding with other people usually because they slow me down. i'm way too fast for most people.

I have no problems riding with others...but its logistically so much easier to go alone that most of my miles are solo.

I usually ride alone. Being in a group is okay for drafting and such, but its way more fun to just ride by yourself and enjoy your bike/environment.

i usually ride with anywhere from three to eight of my friends.

There are a bunch of weekly training or club rides everywhere in the area where I live. I either ride solo, with another rider or two, a small or large group (usually with other SoCal BF'ers), or in large training rides of 200+ riders. Depending on the ride, I'll use either my fixed, SS road, or my geared ride.

Usually with one or two others or less. A lot of the two extremes lately, either alone when I'm mobbing around town or with others when I'm getting my chill on.

ususally alone, unless i meet up with a buddy or go on a group ride. 90% solo style though.

I'm a soloist. I get so excited when riding with others though. Call me a loser but I'm like a little kid with a cheesy grin when I get the chance to ride with ppl. When there are riding events for ppl to ride with, I have a hard time getting to bed since I get so happy.

I kind of feel the same way. I ride alone or with my girlfriend so often that when I get with a group of guys who can keep a 25 or 30 mph pace up for a while, I am usually ecstatic.

man, 33 people so far who ride alone vs 13 who ride with others... we're spending too much time on this internet.

Mostly alone, sometimes with one of my other 4 friends who ride bikes.

I usually ride alone, or chase the folks who drop me. I've been trying to get some of my friends into it, but they all want to ride TO somewhere.

The typical situation is:
ME: Hey, wanna go for a ride?
THEM: Where we going?
ME: We could head south, I guess.
THEM: Hey, I've always wanted to see chinatown.
ME: Ya, we can see where we go from there!
THEM: (locking up in chinatown) What? You want to stay on your bike? I wanted to see chinatown!
US: Wow, they eat those stinky ass turtles and frogs?
ME: We should have just kept riding.

So, yeah, my friends look at riding as a tourist event.
I ride alone most of the time.

I always commute alone. Half the time I ride recreationally I am by myself and the other half I'm with one or two people. If I'm in a bigger group it is probably a special occasion. I would like to ride in bigger groups but I only have a couple friends who like to ride as much as I do.

I ride alone because there's no one to ride with here.

Back in the states very few people were into just riding around. They all wanted a place to go (drink) or a planned route (that involved drinking). Like TheFrood said, sometimes I want to just ride East or North...

That and I generally didn't have enough money to go out to drink.

My friends don't really like to ride their bikes for more than 5 miles. And same sort of deal, they like to be too planned and ride slow as hell.

I have a good friend that I ride places with for fun, or when we're going to parties. Other than that, alone.

I like to ride with one or two friends, ones I know can keep up. Other than that, it's mostly commuting or errands.

I ride alone every time im on my Langster or Fuji fixie but usually ride with one other person on both my urban mtn and bmx.

Mostly alone... Its hard finding somebody I trust to lead, and give signals on whether intersections are safe or not.

i ride to work AND do group rides a few nights of the week.

I have a group of 5 agents that meet up with me outside of work every weekday. We then head out in a V formation for the commute home. I never lead the group because it's such a dangerous position to take ~

the real question is how HARD do you roll ?
who packs heat/weapons when riding solo

Gotta have someone else there to film my leg-over skids. Also riding with my girlfriend is awesome because everyone can hear me scream at her and look like an *******.

I voted alone. Although I ride with my kids to school and activities every day. And I ride with my wife several times a week. Most of my riding, both in miles and time is alone.
I didn't see anywhere for riding with the wife/husband. Or kids.

same here....have never been able to ride w/ a group of people actually. I dont have any friends that are really into riding. A few that ride in the summer short distances...but nobody serious

I do most of my training alone. Cross has lots of intervals, so solo suffering is my way of getting through it. I have a great team I can do group rides with, and Sundays at the track is also a fun community.

i can't ride for ****, thats why i ride alone.

i gave my brother an old ss of mine, so i ride with him when im home. when im at school i dont have anyone to ride with so i go aloooone

one of those choices should be changed to "balls deep."

usually just the tip. just to see how it feels.

Fixed Gear:
With 1 or 2 tops trusted friendsnfor fun and safety.

Road/Racing:
More the merrier, up to 40-50.

Monday: Group fixed ride 25-35 miles with 5-30 people
Tuesday: Group road ride 30-45 miles with 3-10 people
Thursday: Ditto
Friday: Pub crawl of some sort 20-30 miles with 5-10 people
Sunday: Race with too many sketchy Cat 5s

Commuting and errands are always solo unless I run into a friend around town which has a high probability.

It varies. I commute alone. But all my friends ride, so usually run into them throughout the day.

Also, group hustles to/from parties are the best.

I enjoy my solo rides, rides with friends, rides with my kids, rides with larger groups and am looking forward to taking a ride with this beautiful girl of whom I am acquainted.
