Cold wind. I don't mind rain or snow, but I can't stand riding with the wind in my face, blowing my hair around, slowing me down, giving me ear aches, etc.

What do you kidz hate?

There's been 50+ mph gusts here all day today. I haven't gotten on my bike once today and it blows.

the only days that make me consider not going to work are 33-40 degrees with a steady rain.

no matter what your gear you are soaked to the bone, and with the windchill its below freezing.

ive been warmer when there was a windchill of -15 than in that ****.

sleet/hail are pretty harsh to ride in, but thats kind of obvious. Rocks in the face nonstop is not favourable.

although i found the extreme heat on Mercury somewhat unbearable, the atmospheric storms on Saturn made it nearly impossible to remain at a constant speed.

Snow. Goodbye bike lanes, hello more impatient and reckless than usual drivers, and, eventually, hello skating rink.

Seriously why do people drive even more like *******s when the weather turns? It's like, yeah, 10 feet of visibility, black ice everywhere, I'm going to pick TODAY to start acting all 2fast2furious.

definitely wind. it rains here in the northwest all the time so i've gotten used to it. snow just becomes peaceful and fun. but a strong headwind when you are already tired just sucks

Also, slush is hell. I can't count the number of times I've seen people just DROP while on their bikes for seemingly no reason in slushy conditions. You get into a groove cut by a car's tire and any attempt to escape results in pain.

I don't mind snow/ice at all, wind is annoying but not bad, cold I can deal with, but man, I mother****ing hate the rain. For about 3 years in college I took raindays any time it was wet when I'd need to leave for class.

I don't really enjoy riding during flash floods.

i got stuck in a torrential downpour one day, with flash flooding all over. that totally blew. it's hard to get home when your cranks keep getting submerged in huge road-lakes.

cold wind and cold rain are definitly the worst.
i think cold is like a ten times multiplier to any already crappy weather condition.

I think snow riding is fun. I love it fixed because I can **** around with skids that are impossible for me to do on dry pavement. I.E, skidding and spinning the cranks backwards 3 times.

I fall a lot when it is snowy, and the drivers are scarier, but it is still a lot of fun on the residential streets.

oh man most definatly (sp?) freezing rain (like major downpours). with glass's they just get coated and dont work without them your eyes sting, the road gets slippery, cars pay less attention to you and more to getting home quick. I had to ride next to a bus one day, only because i knew it was going by my house, and i could just make out the bus and its brake lights, so i had to stick next to it for like 45min... stopping and starting, stopping and starting, it was brutal with my 83GI i was running, oh and i couldn't see ANYthing else

cold+wet is right up there with +100deg and humid.

It's been around 100 here for the last week but dry as hell. Feels great. The humidity comes next month.

wind. Simply because you cant count on it. Cold and heat are typically constant throughout a ride, rain/snow/ice you can see coming and will know if you want to go out in it.

But the wind can blow in your face all the way out, then switch directions and blow in your face all the way back in.:crash:

+1

you can always wear more clothes when it's cold, but once it's too hot, yer fuxored.

wind also sucks, but I always pretend I'm climbing when it's headwind time, and then it's not so bad. (like every freakin DAY on the way home!)

I hate when it is deceptively warm in the spring and fall. Sunny and above freezing, end up dressing a little lighter, get about 2 hours out, wind picks up and sun starts to go down, got a nice layer of sweat that all of a sudden starts to get ice cold, body temp starts to drop, legs start cramping... Mind starts going nuts realizing that you have well over 2 hours of brutal pedaling against the wind left and don't have a bail-out gear or proper clothing.

kjohnnytarr
03-17-08, 11:52 AM
Bad heat. Everything else you can dress/pedal against. But with heat, you just have to resign yourself to carrying an extra shirt to change into after you get where you're going.

I actually like heat. Though some people that I work with think I'm out of my tree when I saddle up to ride home and it's pushing 110.

I dont mind heat either. It has always been my firm conviction that air conditioning makes the spirit weak.

likeaHorse

I agree, HEAT is the worst.

32 degrees and above, rain pouring regularly is no problem for me. I have a 20 dollar goretex surplus rain jacket, a dry sack to stuff in my backpack, and an a-loksack for my wallet/cash/ nyother water fearing pocket items.

Essential gear living in the NW, relatively cheap and extremely effective. Could be improved with wickaway base layers, but I'm on the cheap for school.

Wind in the face, and heat are the only unlpleasant riding conditions to me.
