Check to see if you can get warranty. I can't tell where the crack is from pix but fixing a aluminum frame is rarely something worth attempting.

Jamis has a lifetime frame warranty, take it to the bike shop you got the bike at and they will help you out.

generally if it's aluminum, you can't weld it.

ya, rewelding that frame def isnt worth it. youd need to weld a plate on top of the area. and then send the frame away to get heat treated and all to restore its original stregnth. al is a finiky metal. steel is much less so like that.

peace

It has been my experience that Jamis frames crack and break frequently. It is a good thing that they have a lifetime warranty.

First, find a copy of the warrenty and read it, then contact a LBS that deals with Jamis. Try to get the frame replaced under warrenty. Contact Jamis and ask them what you should do. You should have no problems getting the frame replaced under warrenty as long as you bought the new.

The frame on your bike is built with 7005 series alum, and can be repaired...BUT The repair will more then likely cost more then just replacing the frame. From what i see in the photo there is a crack just behind the head tube. I would guess at 15 to 20 (@$50 an hour) hours to repair your frame. That includes striping the bike down, removing the paint, repairing the damaged tube and adding gussets to the head tube. Then you would still have to repaint the frame. I do repairs on all types of alum, have all my certs including aircraft.

But above all else DO NOT RIDE THAT FRAME It will brake and it will hurt
