Hi,

Has anyone been on the Virginia Creeper Trail in the last year?

We were there 2 years ago and have it in our memories as one of the most fun and spectacular ride we ever did. We stayed in Abingdon, at the Summerfield Inn and shuttled up to the top of Whitetop mountain to ride the whole trail going back down to Abingdon.

There was a lot of restoration work being done at that time on some of the old railroad bridges and one trail segment in the Damascus area was almost down to a single track MTB trail.

Have things changed a lot recently? For the better or for the worst?

Thanks,

In Virginia things always change for the better and, the creeper trail is fine example of this. Restoration work in the mountains always tends to plod along however, it gets done and, done well. It's probably time you make another trip - it's every bit as thrilling as it was 2 years ago - probably more so.

Rode it just a few weeks ago, the bridges are in great shape, the section coming out of Damascus heading to Abingdon is still single track for around a mile, it has been like this for along time, don't know.
I live 20 miles away in Bristol Tn, it's a treasure to have that close by.
