off the Jah Drop, that is the question. I'm contemplating it as I type this, I feel like it's time to kick it up a notching riding wise. Once I get healed up though.

Just ask Josh Bender. Did he ever land it? I really don't know if he did or not. In one of my DVD's, it's his 2nd year and he made 3 attempts and crashed all 3 times. He said there wasn't enough of a tranny.
I'm sure he eventually landed it. Bender loves the media attention.

the jaw drop begins where the grass on that hillside ends. they've shown it on last year's kamloops episode of drop in, they've also shown josh bender's attempts to drop it in the new world disorder videos - i think 1 & 2 if i remember correctly. it's a 55" overhanging cliff and bender said the landing is like landing on pavement.
i don't think he's hit the drop yet... and i don't think he's going to be trying to hit that drop for long time (if ever) from the sound of what he was sayin' on the that dvd that a2 mentioned. he's attempted it 4 times. after the first attempt he spent the night at a kamloops hospital cause of his injuries. after the next 3 attempts, i think he finally gave up saying that he knows his limits.
personally, i wouldn't drop that unless i had a parachute or unless i was padded up like the michelin man.

Its funny I was talking with a buddy about this the other day. I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to push the height of a drop as big as Bender, land it and possibly throw down some style. Seriously the only thing keeping bender in this game it no one is going as big as he does. His drops still on average dwarf all of the other freeriders. If someone could do the same stuff as him and land it we would have bender replaced :)
Danka, have you ever even done a 40ft drop? 54" is pretty signifigant :)

I have, but it's beeen a while.

Flying all the way out to Kamloops to hit that would be the first stupid thing to do...but the rest of the area has killer riding.

WOW!!! I've climbed up rock faces that high and I can safely say I would not want to fling myself off the top unless I had a very secure rope rigged up to stop me from falling.
If you've done 40' drops before though, I say go for it! You'll probably only gain another 10-15 miles per hour in speed over the 40' drop.

sure you can do it, but can I have yor bike when you eat it? Chances are you'll break so many bones in your body you may not ever need your bike again, so send it my way :D IMHO there's no point really. I mean you ride for fun. How fun is being laid up in bed for 3+ months because you had a moment of stupidity. Just doesn't make any sense in my book.

Bender Has not landed it yet. He keeps trying but his suspension rebounds too much when he lands and he gets launched. Props out to bender though, hes a hell of a rider. Stupid, but a hell of a rider.

seems pretty crazy to me, but most of those type of jumps do(though I'd still like to try a lot of them).
I mean, jumping off a cliff that would normally kill you with nothing but more weight to break your fall...I might think twice.

As stated in an earlier post, Bender hasn't made this drop & stayed in control anyway. He's launched several times, but the landing zone is still too flat....
Everyone on here should see the NWD & Kranked Series..... They'll blow you away.

My friends cousin tried to do a 60 footer to flat and....well you can pretty much guess what happened. He had to get an airlift to the hospital and his bike was pretty much destroyed. I lost the video but if I find it I will definitely post it here, it's crazy. Don't try the Jah Drop unless you have a super hardcore bike.

You would have to be mentally insane to try a 60 foot to flat. Its not possible (unless I see a video)
madbiker555
03-19-05, 10:50 PM
Ya he was a bit insane, but it's just freaking nuts! 60ft is huge! He had an extreme bike because he is nuts. It had 3.0 Gazza's, a Super Monster fork, and tons of other top of the line parts. He broke a $6000 bike! Now I have to find the video to show you.

60 ft to flat...I gotta see this. I don't believe it for one (it would have been all over the web) and 2...bender barely survived a 54 ft drop to a pretty decent tranny (it isn't flat but there was still tonnes of tranny, but the drop was sooo much force downwards the tranny looked non existent).
60 ft to flat...HA...

60 feet to flat would require like 3 sets of the extra firm springs squished in a super monster. and like 30 wt oil for the rebound

I didn't belive the video when I first saw it, but trust me Im not making this up. He was at the hospital for a long time beofre he could even be released. Im not sure why it's not all over the net, 1st- I don't think they ever thought of posting it online, 2nd- my friend gave it to me to watch and I either lost it, it's lying in a bunch of unmarked tapes, or I recorded over it. (hopefully it's in a box of old videos in my basement)
Is there a link to Bender's attempts? I haven't heard of him and I want to see what happened when he tried make it.

You have seen your friends vid attempting a 60fter but havent seen the only documents 50+ ft drop? Go buy the NWD series and you will see it. It is easily the most talked about drop as it has been attempted and video taped.
60ft drop to flat and you might not have it. Thats why I find it hard to believe, that would be worth money. So many sports shows would grab that up just to show someone crashing.Benders has been on tv several times over the last few years

Holy crap that must take some serious balls. I haven't seen my friends drop for a long time and I can't belive that Bender actually had the cojonies to pull it off at the Jah drop.
P.S. My friend's cousin didn't do that drop, it was somewhere in Ontario and it was to a soft muddy surface.

03-19-05, 11:40 PM
He attempted it multiple times and even after the last attempt said he knew this was his limit, but if he could find a perfect tranny he would try that. He does believe that 100 ft is doable with a proper tranny

I actually think he is mellowing out. He isnt going big like he used to (although he is one of 3 riders to nail the drop in Kelowna that is 45 ft). Been working on tricks and a lot more trails. Pretty skilled rider overall

Ask yourself "Whats the worst that could happen?". If your answer is "Death." then dont do it. Dying is not worth the attention unless you had a lonely childhood, still a virgin and have nothing to lose.

The only way i would do it would be if I got my hands on a motocross bike, stripped out the motor, took it to the top of the hill and just let the brakes go, other than that I wouldn't even think of it. But if you want to do it, go for it!

You just described the Karpeil. I think the Armageddon actually had MORE travel than a MX bike :) I think 22inches total.

I would never do that drop, the most I'll ever do is 30ft on a hardtail (ouch). I was reading about Josh Bender and he never really cared what happened to him, If he did it, he did it. If he didn't then he would just keep going.
O ya, look at his new crazy bike:

Prove it by writing Dirtbike on a piece of paper next to the bike and send us the picture.
Well, If you think you can do it, and your bike will make it then you definately should do it. But if you have any second toughts, then don't. It isn't worth it then.
