Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - ticking sound in my back hub?

ive noticed what at first sounded like a slight ticking from my back wheel which has now gotten louder. i've tried loosening my chain tension a little bit and that stopped it for a little bit, but now its back and i have no idea where exactly its coming from. i know this is vague, but does anyone know what it could possibly be?

It could be your spokes. Have the tension checked.

What kind of rim? Open Pros have an issue with a piece of the rim working loose and making a clicking sound. Does not effect the structural integrity of the rim just annoying.

yeah its at its loudest per pedal revolution i believe. its definitely not random. ugh this is so annoying, im sorry this is so vague.

It could be the little knurled nut thingy on your presta valve those tend to make weird noises when loose

If it's per pedal, it's in your drivetrain: hub, chain, chainline, BB, cranks, heck or even pedal. Lots to check.

If per wheel revolution: well, the wheel. If your rims are double walled you likely have something between them. As someone mentioned on an Open Pro, I think part of the pin/sleeve breaks off and makes noise. Also one of your eyelets (if eyeletted) could have broken off and the inner part fell in and is rattling.

Or the saddle. Try turning the bike upside down and putting a drop of chain lube on each rail contact point. This was my problem once and it drove me nuts before I isolated it. It was with a nice saddle too.

If it indeed is the drivetrain, I've found that the most common culprit is a loose chainring bolt.

Also, I've had wheels that make pinging noises when grit builds up at the points where the spokes cross. Squeezing the spokes so they rub together a couple times fixes it.

Per pedal rotation would probably be bottom bracket, pedals, cranks, chain ring or saddle/seatpost. I doubt it's the hub or chain but anything is possible..

mine does it, I found out its a freewheel.

If it's per pedal rotation it's definitely not the cog or hub. Do sheldon's checklist, you'll find your tick. Mist of the time with me it's my pedals or my bb.

it's the chain i think, but nothing is loose. the noise happens all the time when im pedaling and everything they're telling me to check has to do with a freewheel. everything else is talking about once every pedal revolution or every three or four pedal revolutions. im so confused. i might just take it my lbs this week and let t hem check it out.

sometimes just regreasing your chain works... i had a weird click happening and turned out to be a stuck link.

as of right now i can just hear it but only after i get up to a certain speed. when i walk my bike i dont hear anything. i was listening before and it kind of sounded like there was some grit or something rubbing between the cog and chain.
