Have any of you done something you're proud of then crashed stupidly?

This happened to me, I did a bunnyhop-into-manual up a 8-9 inch curb and it was beautiful (I'm not very good at bunnyhopping or manualling) and I started to ride through some grass. Then... out of nowhere! A HOLE!!! I flipped forwards over my bars, and luckily only hurt my knee a little. But there were about 5 people watching and it was hilarious.

I tried to do a tailwhip over a sub-box last season (I've done them plenty of times, just not on that box) and ended up just lawn darting myself. I had so much hang time it was ridiculous.

When I got back into BMX as an adult, I rode a bike with mag wheels. Nose dive landing + mags = flexed mag and faceplant. I now ride Odyssey rims with no more face plants.

Mine was learning 180's over the spine. On my first attempt, I just launched 180 over the spine and landed flat bottom. Missing the transition all together. I don't think I've ever heard a sonic boom on a bike but that came close. :o

After a major crash, I was wondering about a possible bent fork and was riding with no hands to see if it would pull to one side. After riding for a few seconds and being satisfied that my fork was straight I was about to grab my bars when I hit a speed bump. I keeled over and pulled my groin.

Wow, the worst ive ever done on a manual was when i just started bmxing a little last year and I jumped off one and just pulled a leg muscle and couldnt ride my bike for a month (even though I didnt bmx seriously at the time) And then I posted a thread on here about stretching so it wouldnt happen again.

Speaking of pulled groins, I got one today from baseball. It's my annual groin pull, and it's the worst part of baseball.

But, anyway on topic. I crashed in a paved turn at Nationals when I was winning. I messed up before and I hit a kid's back tire. I got a few nice scratches, but I was fine, but very, very angry.

We were supposed to have a photoshoot with BMX Plus at our trails, so I was practicing some different runs and lines. About 30 feet after the last landing of one of the sections (I was already sitting down) I hit some loose dirt and broke my collarbone. Not too cool of a way to break something.

One time i was at my friends house named jake and he has to ramps. Theres a table to jump onto between the to ramps. Well i cleared the ramp no problem but at end of his back his yard is a ramp that wasn't built correctly used to stop our bikes from running into the fence and i was leening slightly to far foward to watch for my other friends who jumped behine me and i ran into the ramp and fliped over my handle bars and crashed into the fence. My back felt kind of weird for a couple of days and i had to get some stiches in my arm. .......... :D

Riding around the city with a couple buds, jumping random objects and the like. Went around a corner and there was a parking meter laying broken across the walkway that we were riding on, I was young and stupid. It caught me by surprise and swerved into the street only to be lightly clipped by some type of SUV. Parking meter Vs. SUV.

Like I said, young and stupid.

Thats why the backpack should be on your back.

Ya,my back was sweaty so I moved it to the bars.

Its weird when you show up to school with a backpack mark of sweat.

Haha, yeah it probably would be, but your story sounds pretty funny. I carried a sleeping bag in front of me one time and nothing happened. I'm just that good.

Wow, today i was waiting for my friends and went to jump this little curb with like a 2 foot gap and my back clipped it and i went flying over my handlebars and messed up my left arm. The worst part was i just ripped my new sweatshirt. I dont get hurt jumping ledges or grinding but when i go to jump a curb...

Thats sounds nicee. And painful. I don't know much, but I do know that looping out on a track when you're flying hurts like a *****.

A few weeks ago i was performing the always difficult 180 off a curbcut in this parking garage beacuse it was raining everywhere else. Anywho, i turned around from the 180 a bit quick, and my left leg gave in and i feel over to find my kneecap was inches away from it's home. Pretty awesome, but not. Dislocated patella and at least another 4 weeks off mah baby.

GET ON MY LEVEL.

I was jumping a 3 foot ramp when I leaned in to the left and landed on my back. Since I purposely landed that way, I suffered no injuries;but I noticed that the handlebars landed 3 inches away from my groin and ripped my shorts under my sweatpants all the way down. I haven't jumped that ramp since then.

i was doin a 180 on this little sidewalk-pyramid thing by my house and at the bottom was a small pile of dirt. not fun. i flipped over backwards and then almost got run over.

another one: a couple years ago, i was haulin *** through a stoplight that was right off the bottom of a hill. some jerk off ran the red light and almost killed me. not cool.

I was just riding along when...... I just got a new bike and wasn't yet familiar with the head angle, trail, etc.
Well we were all riding along nubbing each others tires, seeing who could clear random obstacles, and jump
whatever was around. Well there was a set of ditches that looked like a perfect rythym section and I was looking ahead at those and didn't notice the pothole and as I was leaning forward to get ready to really
start cranking it, BAM I got up and said wow it's like a dream!! My friends were all around me by then and
then I saw looks of horror in their faces!! I said what and when I said that a good ounce or two of blood
came out of my mouth at the same time!!
A woman saw it happen and came out and asked if I needed help and I said I don't know. I went in her
bathroom and looked in the mirror and I had major road rash face and after I rinsed my mouth out I looked
inside to see where the blood was still coming from. I pulled my lower lip out to get a better look and the
lady almost passed out, I could see right into my jawbone.
It took like 8 stitches to close it up but he didn't put them real close or more and I found out why when I
had them removed, It hurt like hell they grew into my skin and he had to rip them hard to get them out.

im pretty sure that just about everyone here has slipped the pedals a few times and knows how big a pain in the ass it is. i was at this football field a little ways from my dads and the bleachers have a perfect 5 set. so i was just rollin down and hoppin it to warm up. then all of a sudden the people in the tennis court next to the bleachers shanked a ball right into my front tire. turned it and screwed my landing.

they never even said sorry.

minichamp31
07-05-08, 09:01 PM
Haha, that's kind of ingnorant and funny. But I bet there are signs by the field that say "no skateboards, bicycles, rollerblades allowed." Or something like it.

Street rider
07-06-08, 11:35 AM
actually the field is brand new so they haven had any problems like me yet, so theres still no signs:D

Well I was at Cardiff skate park yesterday in NSW Australia and I did a 180 in the air and landed it but my Maxxis Maxxy Daddy tyres hit the coping and I sliped not noing how to do a fakie I fell of the back and the peg hit me in the chest but I'm still riding strong as ever with my mates BMX arriving today he is killing all my ramps at my house that I make but when you watch painful stacks you laugh ya head off {lol} but when it happen to me I'm not in that much pain so I just live with it

It seems like whenever i wear shorts, i slip my pedals after just about everytrick. Ill never wear shorts while im riding again. Its not bad at all when your wearing jeans though.

Street rider
07-07-08, 09:17 PM
when i wear baggy shorts, i always seem to get em caught on my compression bolt somehow. thats why i like tight jeans and shorts. you get funny looks, but they dont catch on your bike.
