Hi!
Is there a stem length that most people would consider a 'bad idea' for Tri/TT bikes (i.e. will sacrifice too much control, indicative of poor fit, etc)?
I'm looking at a used 2006 Specialized Transition Comp (52cm)--the LBS is fitting me with a 75mm (+8?) stem. I've never used a TT bike, but on the test rides it feels OK, though I'm not sure how it will react at full speed, on hills, slight curves, etc. The test position seems OK--relatively flat back with elbows ~90. No knee banging into chest.
I'm a small cockpit rider, and think I could work a 49cm Transition (if I can find one) with a 90mm stem. Since TT/Tri involve long straight stretches of road, how much of an issue with stem length be (with a true road bike, I've felt some steering changes with stem length).
Thanks
