Introductions - Hello from the UK

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello everyone, first time on any forum so forgive any transgressions/faux pas etc. Been riding (in Worcester UK) for past 4 years, started time trialling last year and enjoy the challenge (if not the results, usually 17th in our club 10's). I'm 43 and ride most weekends (50 or so mile ride on Sat or Sunday) and commute a shortish (6 mile) ride in week.
Happy riding everyone - look forward to getting into the Forum.

Hello worcstrwheeler, I usually have to pry those locations out of the UK members, so it's nice to be able to figure it out with accusing you of being one of my rellies* :D .
What bikes are you riding?
*Born in Lancashire, I was...

Bikes are:
Colnago C50 with Dura Ace and Mavic R Sys wheels (recently acquired)
Opera Crono TT bike (alu with carbon stays - ex team bikes from Ileas Balears c2004/5, picked up second hand, previously ridden by Eric Berthou, name's still on the top tube!) with Dura Ace and Xero XR38 wheels
Hewitt Audax with Campag Veloce and Open Pro's
Dawes Horizon touring bike for commuting.
My ability does no justice to the bikes I have, but given I need to buy as much speed as I can afford.........
Regards to all.

Your bikes all sound quite lovely! Did you have the Hewitt fitted to you?

Hewitt was fitted for me in 2005 in PH's old shop. Alu frame and 'guards, painted in Celeste (aka Bianchi green or blue depending how one sees it). PH built the wheels, (Veloce hubs on Open Pro's, still true after 3 winters). At some point I'll figure out how to get pics onto the web.
Being a Lancs Lass, you will know Leyland. PH's new shop (still in Leyland) is v impressive.

If you have problems with the photos, let me know. Normal recommendation is to upload the image to a hosting site, such as Photobucket. So, do you have a photo hosting account?
I have not seen the new shop...I need to stop in the next time I visit home (I live in the United States).

Thanks for the tips re photos, I'll try to sort some out (need to take some first of course, but my garage door is green.......) and get signed up to a hosting site as you say - this is all new to me.

Don't worry, my usual backdrop is my stone wall (because my garage door is blue :D ).

Nice bike, looks like a classic machine, I don't know Richard Sachs, is it a US brand? I know some of the classic UK brands (Holdsworth, Hetchins, Hercules, Mercian, Carlton etc etc), but Richard Sachs is new to me. PS it would go with my garage doors!

Richard Sachs is one of the top two or three builders in the US. He makes all his frames himself--no assistants or apprentices. He has a two or three year backlog.
This is actually a tiny bike--it has 24" wheels, and yes, it fits me :D .
