Hello everyone, This might be a stupid question but hey I am just trying to learn as much as possible from riders Thanks.
What is a good training speed for a beginner/intermidiate rider? and how long should I try to keep that speed and how long should I ride?
Honestly there is no clear cut answer, some start out riding 1 block at around 5mph others start off around 12mph and doing 10 miles. Since each person is in different physicaly shape, basicaly just listen to your body.

If you're a novice roadie and serious about cycling, I would not even think speed, but totally concentrate on smooth spinning and high cadence without bobbing up and down.

Yes at this point I average 12-13mph but it is tough sometimes to keep this speed up. :(

Speed depends on so much...road conditions, flat or hilly route, type of bike, tires. If you want to build your speed, first work on a solid base. Get out a ride on a regular basis. A lot of people like using a heart rate monitor and train at about 80% heart rate. To make things interesting, do intervals one day and work on your spin another day and a long ride on the weekend.

When you refer to "spin" I imagine you are talking about pedaling technique?
Please explain.

spinning is pedaling a lower gear at higher rpm's... you should try to maintain atleast 90 rpm's... when i was first working on my spinning, all i did was downshift one cog from what's comfortable... but once you get used to it, you will actually prefer spinning at high rpm's...
