Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Okay, so here's the question. What type of stretches do you do?
Reason I'm asking is, I used to play football and most of those stretches have worked, but I'm unable to get the muscles in certain areas stretched very good. I would also like to know your regular routine stretches, and how long you hold for. Specialty areas like shins, achilies tendon, and I've had a really wierd one, the top of my foot and up into my ankle. I've tried everything for that one.
And any information would be appreciated and thanks.
Hi LA-
Instead of telling you what we do, how about if I recommend a book instead?
I have the book called "Stretching", by Bob Anderson. You can get it at amazon.com or any other book selling website. It is an excellent book with descriptions and illustrations, and it even breaks down stretches by sport. You can't get any better than that.

Thanks Koffee. Like I said I used to play football, some work and some not so much.
Cool- you'll find all your answers in this book- I believe they even break it down based on how flexible you are.

A co-worker of my was taking yoga classes. I think it started out so he can see the girls bending over and streching out in front of him, but in the end he said the class was very beneficial.

I second that I have owned that book for over 20 years now a very no nonsense approach to stretching no gimicks and he has laid out several different routines for just about aything you can think of.

Regardless of the end result, please let me know where your co-worker takes yoga so I can avoid it. And tell him he's a stalker in training....
