Anyone ever done this ride? Looks like fun and a two day 130 mile total ride is not too much for most.
General impressions. June 7th 8th, 2008. Only link I could find: http://www.mariettarcc.org/
I have not done it myself but my club has and everyone of them say it is a great ride! scenic(read hilly) and very well supported. The events in Marrieta are what make this ride what it is.

Thanks much. In the interm I talked to someone who has done it and said they offer alternative routes to avoid the major climbs. This is not a big concern for me as you really can not ride anywhere in southwest PA without encountering a steep hill if not a mountain.
Looking more like I know what I will be doing June 7-8. The only thing I have to doublecheck is when my daughter's due date is with grandkid #2.

OMG! That's where I went to college. Brings back memories. Too bad I won't be able to make it, but maybe next year.

Is that near the dreaded Outlet Mall on I-71, one hour out of Cincinnati? On the plus side, that would give my wife something to do if I rode that tour. On the minus side, it would give my wife something to do if I rode that tour.

oilman,
I did it in the 80's and it is truly a great ride. Not to much mileage to enjoy the big city of Marietta events. Yes, you can avoid the hills but may face a little more traffic in some places. Last bit riding into Marietta is on a busy road but not to bad.
Weak Link,
No this is on the other side of the State. The ride starts in Zanesville, home of the "Y" bridge where you can drive to the middle of the bridge and turn right. Zanesvile is 50 miles East of Columbus. There is a nice mall in Vienna West Virginia which is just below Marietta.

With a windy, cold 38f 11 mile ride tonight the river ride sounds more and more like a go. On the filling time for the mate side you can do the great pottery museum in Zanesville. Good for a couple of hours if I remember correctly.
My wife also reminded me that our old college mates live in Marietta. If you look hard enough you can justify anything.
