Touring - About my dream touring bike setup.......

It would be carbon fibre as it's without a doubt the best frame material. The wheelset size would be 26" as they are the fastest. For shifting, I would use Campy Ergo shifters as all other shifters are just terrible for touring. For brakes I would use are cantilevers, preferably anodized yellow to match my favourite colour.

The saddle would be a Brooks B66 broken in by using motor oil. I know there are alternatives, but you cannot tour on a recumbent as the ride is too harsh and you'd need custom dentures. Lastly, I would always use a helmet which should be made compulsory by law.

Truly, the Kukri is a beautiful device.

26 inch. Check. Well, sort of check. I've read all about the advantages of 26 inch wheels, but I still like 700C.

So far I'm with you a hunnert purcent. But, instead of carring Halt or a machete, I want a trailing wire for dogs to latch on to an then just stun'em. That and a fairing made by hotbike (see alt bike forum—the best thread ever) so's I can jus ram any RV that gets too close. That and I'd have room fer a cooler 'n beer. Perhaps a sun shade. Heck, I might 'jus as well have 'im enclose the whole thing. Wouldn't have to worry about rain.

My contact at Nashbar says there is no definite release date on the "Deep cycle Fryer". So until then, I'll continue to freeze-dry my hush puppies and cook them in my bikrowave oven. I'll notify the group when I get an update, we all may save some money with a group buy!
