I bought my wife her first road bike the other day. It was a closeout and I got it at an incredible price. Well I have heard/read that there are some problems with the crankset. Does any one know what they are?

If they are installed corectly, you are unlikely to have any problems with them. It was real easy to get the crank a little crooked on install and damage the splines in the crank. They also tend to loosen up after install so you should check the torque after the first few rides and every now and then. If you happen to pull them off(requires a special puller or adaptor) grease the heck out of the splines when you put them back on.
