While the service BF provides is excellent not having access for ~15hours (19 - 20 march 08) was a little frustrating. There's only so much koolaid crazed kiddie speak that you can take on competing forums.

Therefore, is there anyway Internetbrands can set up an auto reset/reboot on the server? Possibly if there's no activity for a period, e.g., 3 hours.

I guess we were spoiled when it was still JG's baby as he could, apparently, reboot remotely. What I'd like, if it's possible, is to have the same facility available to certain super mods, if it cannot be setup as an automatic service.

That is, BF is effectively a 24hr forum and shouldn't, in my opinion, be restricted by office hours at Internetbrands.

edit: underestimated time off-line

i doubt the BF servers have three hours of no activity.. i'm guessing they get requests 24/7.

The problem was a little bigger than just needing a reboot.

Is it something that may occur again in the near future? Or did the problem get fixed/resolved?

Well thanks for the reply. Was it a power failure at the server shed?

Don't know, for some reason the people in charge don't seem to like to mention that there was an outage or what caused it. After the long down period, I thought there would have been an explanation in the News and Announcements forum.
