2. yeah

Stick your hand in and find out....

I'll try to remember to get some mealworms so you can watch her eat. It's pretty scary.

Well, I'll have you know that I have handled a tarantula before (Happy, I mean a spider here. ;))

They are very docile animals, actually, unless they feel threatened. Apparently, if they start rubbing their legs together and shedding on you, they have become agitated. But I don't know what kind of tarantula you own. You may be in violation of the law, actually, as any with FANGS longer than 1/2 inch is illegal to have as a pet...by the way.:p

She's a Chilean Rose Hair. I think the ducks have longer fangs than she does.

Some other tarantulas are a lot more fun to handle...

One of my long term goals is breeding giant ducks the size of dinosaurs to trim the hedges.

 Look it, I've had a pet rooster before. He loved me, but I was cruel to him (don't ask, it's heartbreaking and a lesson I learned as a child that I will never forget :(). Roosters and chickens are not dumb. Really, no animal is and it is DUMB for any human to think so. They have their own intricate world and if given a chance, they'll bond with us DUMB humans.

That little rooster that I had, Rudy, loved me and followed me around whenever I appeared. He knew who I was (hid from my parents and sister). If I owned a farm, I'd have a pet rooster for sure in my barn!

1. they're the common pet store variety.

3. Other people have the same idea. Birds grow at the same rate as dinosaurs-- the big difference is that birds only grow for a few weeks or months, but dinosaurs grew for years. All you have to do is turn off the gene that makes them stop growing and you can have dino-ducks.

Put the pipe down! :p

Seriously, I read about your tarantula. She actually sounds less creepy than some. :o

Oh, and I'm getting gerbils. I've decided. Here's a link:http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/gerbils/a/gerbilcare.htm

They are sweet, furry, like to be petted, quiet, clean, need only a small (compared to guineas) cage and live 3-4 years. I'm thinking that this may be my pet and I may get a couple on Sunday!!! :)

Yeah, they sound fine until there's 10,000 of them crawling around in the cage and they're so small they could just swarm out through the tiny cracks in the lid.

You could get lab mice. They're cuter than gerbils, and if you're lucky you can get some that turn green under UV light.

You can't be allergic to a hairless cat.

(though you may have to knit it a sweater)

Well then, how about a pot-bellied pig. They advantages are:
Long life span (12-20 years)
Clean and odor-free
Non-allergenic in most cases
No fleas
Very little shedding
Quickly trained: litterbox, tricks, harness, etc.
No barking
Non-destructive, unlike a puppy
Low maintenance: annual vet visit, low feed consumption
Communicative, affectionate, and intelligent

The bad part, in your case, may be that you may not be zoned for a pig.

Yummy . . . bacon . . .

Actually, I did research on this cat a few years ago. I couldn't find any info of shelters for them (at the time) and I only will accept a rescue pet and I won't budge on that (well, except like a fish or something). Rescuse animals are in dire need, and without getting on my soapbox, I wish everyone would consider that and not go through breeders (putting soapbox away).

But this cat is very fragile in terms of temperatures and nature. Not a good pet for me. I need something a little more hardy. :D

Huh - that's odd. Considering all the other ones that are.

Then m.e. should definitely get a chinchilla. Talk about soft and pet-able. And when she gets tired of it, she can make ear muffs.

Not illegal. My friend has eight.

But regardless, I've made my decision (sort of).

I'm seriously considering adopting two sister bunnies who are from the same litter. The foster mom really wants them to stay together. They are very tiny and will never get very large. I just came back from petting them and they were all over me. They loved me!!! And they are so cute and furry and soft and sweet and lovable and non-stinky and whiskered and huggable and I think I'm going to cry. :p

You could wear them as ear muffs while they're still live pets.

Umm, if the bunny is talking, it probably is a hallucination. If they are make believe talking rabbits, they will turn pink and grow to 6 feet tall. just saying.

I've decided by popular vote that I'm not getting any pet. I can't get the bunny rabbits as it wouldn't be fair to them (the cage size they need is too big and I'm not cramming them into a little bitty cage for hours as that would be cruel). Gerbils/deers/hedgehogs are illegal. Hamsters/rats only live 2 years and I can't stand death anxiety (losing a pet that quickly would depress me), Guinnea pigs/rabbits need more room, tarantulas are creepy, Corgis are cute but dogs and dogs aren't allowed in my building, cats make me sneeze and are evil, horses are too big, men too difficult, and fish/snakes/lizards/frogs/turtles/pet rock not cuddly/petable enough.

I guess I really am a nut case.
