For the Denver folks:

Last night, driving home on Iliff, I saw what appeared to be a cyclist down at the intersection of Iliff and S. Yosemite. I'm not 100% certain, though I'm pretty sure I saw a mangled bike with a handlebar light and the reflection of all the emergency lights off the spokes. Either way, an individual was on the ground receiving treatment by paramedics, and there were a ton of cops blocking off the area. I saw a car pulled over the side of the road, so I presume it was a rider hit by a vehicle. Iliff is a busy road, with wide sidewalks- the rider may have been crossing at the crosswalk when a cager didn't see him or her, but that is pure speculation on my part.

I know it made me consider my commute, and while I'm glad I have listened to all the lighting and visibility advice in the commuting forum, just watching the scene pass by made me feel very vulnerable.

If anyone knows details, feel free to add them. I hope the injured (emotional and physical) are all ok.

I have ridden down that street in that area. It is indeed busy and fraught with risk.
I hope the other rider is faring well.

While I was being driven from Denver Health I noticed around 10 bicycle riders without lights.
I am not saying that is what happened to that rider but we need to pay attention to ninja riders as well while driving or cycling.

The ninja riders around here blow my mind- especially on Cherry Creek bike path. I guess they feel if they aren't in traffic, they really don't need light.
