You think? I've planned on doing the HH100 this year, but time just got away from me. I'm sure all the hotel rooms are booked by now, but I see from their website that there is camping available. Has anyone camped in years past that would steer away from doing it again? I know I could drive up in the morning, but I'd rather not.

The drive up in the morning wouldn't be the tough part...it would be the drive back after the ride!

Two years ago we stayed with a guy that had room in his house. Cuda and Lecterman stayed there also. There's contact info on the HH100 website for someone that helps make these arrangements. The guy didn't charge us anything but we got him a Home Depot gift card as thanks.

The Chaparral Baptist Assembly Camp is the best deal going for HHH. They have bunkhouses or what they call motel rooms. The bunkhouses are tough in that you are in a room full of snoring. The motel rooms are private with private baths. 2 meals are included - Friday night pasta dinner and Sat. breakfast and it has been very good for the 4 times I have stayed there. The camp is about 10 miles West of the start and a little hard to find - be sure and get specific driving instructions. They only require you to pay for 1 night and it's reasonable compared to the intown hotels.
The phone number is 940-855-4182.

I've stayed at Chaparral every year I go up, the biggest benefit is that
you can check out AFTER the ride, i.e. go back to room, shower then check out
and drive back home.
I'll be there this year again.

Marty

edit: One last thing, if you stay at Chaparral bring mosquito repellant!

Maybe - I mean, there will be like, 11,000 other cyclists, but hey!

I'll be the one riding a SWEET 2006 white carbon Bianchi 9-2-8 L'una - yeah baby! :D

I don't think it is to late to plan a trip to HHH. Last year we waited till the final week to pre enter, and a few days before we called the surrounding cities, to check on hotel availability. On the night before the event we were able to find a few hotels just a few miles from the starting line, that had some cancellations. Its a awesome event and a good ride, just be prepared to ride in some high winds and to arrive at the starting line early.

You should be ok to start planning now. You will just have to be persistent. I have a reservation in a room that i will be most likely cancel. It looks like Im going to have to be out of town. Of course I will not cancel until the week before just incase I am able to ride. I doubt that im the only one doing this.

Consider staying in Graham, TX, about 55 miles south. They have a nearly new Best Western and a couple of other hotels. Its an easy drive out on 114 & 380 from the Metroplex. Then its 55 miles on to WFalls in the AM. Or drive back to Graham and crash on Saturday night.

Okay, I'm a little bit of a shill since I live here and promote the city.
