I just saw this on New York craigslist- somebody had better buy this! If I hadn't just built a couple of new bikes, and it were my size, I would be seriuosly considering it, but $1500? WTF?

I hope I'm wrong, but when I see stuff like this, the first words that come to mind are "scam" or "hot". The wheels and aero bars alone should be able to sell for nearly $1500, same thing with a zero miles frameset. I'd want to see receipts if I was serious about purchasing.

If it is real, someone is going to get a great deal, or there is a great arbitrage possibility.

The lack of a phone number doesn't necessarily concern me. I might be hesitant to list a phone number if I posted an add, since CL adds allow for interested parties to email interest.

If I were in NY, I would probably try to see the bike if the person seemed legit.

Whatever the reason, it looks like the bike doesn't fit the owner, with the seat tilted that far down and the stem up and no spacers above it, it looks like its too small.

Most people selling on CL don't want to be contacted by others. If he's really a scammer, (which by all indications he is) then opening yourself up to other opportunities is like trolling for more people to screw.

Buyer beware... and if it looks/sounds too good to be true, 99/100 times it probably is. At least with craigslist.

the whole low price, I'm leaving the country I'll ship it to you routine is all over CL. Cars/bikes/anything worth $$$.

I don't think anyone here believes that it isn't a scam, but think about it... be creative, have some fun with this guy. Ask him to take photos of the bike from all angles with a piece of paper with today's date on it... Make him do work with no chance of success...

The Ebay listing is about where I would have guessed the bike to sell at.

There are about a million differences between the CL and the ebay listing, so no, the ebay listing would not look like a scam. Feedback, twice the pictures, detailed responses in comments, paypal, etc.
