Hi

I'm visiting family in Kamloops for two weeks, and was wondering if it's worth it to try to take my road bike. I know there is great mountain biking in Kamloops, but are there friendly roads to ride as well? I hate the idea of not riding for two weeks, but I only want to bother taking my bike if I'm going to be able to use it quite a bit.

If you can, please supply road / route specifics.

Thanks!

I haven't taken my road bike there or tried this ride, but I understand Westsyde Road out to the McLure ferry (or further) is a very good, paved secondary road. I plan on trying this when I visit later this year. I was also eyeing up a short jaunt out Tranquile Road to the old sanitorium by Kamloops Lake. If you are into hill climbing the possibilities are just about endless. Just a thought, a lot of roads can be narrow and I don't know how "bike friendly" (or aware) the locals are.
