Hi all

2003 Jamis dakar Sport with about 140 miles since new:

One each revolution i hear a squeeking from soemwhere between the pedals to the back wheel.

I know that could be many things, but i can't pinpoint it. It usually happens when pedaling and ceases if i raise off the seat.

All advice is most welcome!

Thanks

JNB

JamisNewBie,

Squeeks--as you have noticed--are difficult to locate. If the noise stops when you get out off the saddle, that is where I would look first. Maybe the culpit is the seat clamp-saddle rails connection. Check whether it is properly fixed, clean, lubed.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, excuse this, but is the seat clamp-saddle the calmp that hold the seat stem in place?

Thanks

JNB

Uhh, apologise my sloppy wording. I meant the seat clamp (located at the end of your seatpost), which holds (on to) the saddle (rails) in place.

Thanks, that's clearer now. I'll check it, but keep in mind, the noise seems to correlate with pedal revolutions..

Thanks

Regardless of whether you are pedalling seated or out of the saddle?

There is a definate correlation to me sitting ad pedalling, rear suspension maybe?

I had a squeek from my platform of my cleat on my clipless shoes rubbing against the base of the pedal. Some lube every week or so takes care of it

Since it stops when you stand, I thinks it comes from either the saddle rails, as suggested by Bruco, or the seat post in the frame. Anti-seize compound is best, but grease will do. I have had a squeek from one shoe rubbing the crank, which I fixed by adjusting the cleat, but this squeek wasnt affected by standing.

Thanks all, i will 'tackle' the seat this weekend and post the outcome.
