there were only a few times this winter that i didn't ride at all, mostly because i've been getting sick an awful lot lately, but there were lots of days that i didn't ride to work. on average i guess i commuted to my office 3-4 times a week. i've been doing food delivery on the weekends since december though.
more or less, i rode through the whole winter.

Seriously uncool. I too ride for work and am so friggin sick of getting soaked every day. Maybe I'll move to Miami, buy a fancy car and run a porno website for a living. Or maybe I'll just keep riding my bike in the snow.

Ever had to dim your bike lights because of a blizzard? The other morning I had to turn my helmet light off and put my bar mount on low power.
I ride all winter. :)

Looking at just my 2008 records I have missed 9 days since the start of the new year.
Don't have my 2007 logs for december handy.

I bet that even though the freaks shooting slush onto you from their enormous SUV are warm and dry inside their car, they are less happy and fatter than everyone who powers themselves to work/school every day.
A good thought.

I've ridden every day. I do live in Santa Barbara though, so the worst we got was a week of rain.

I answered every day, I commute 5 days a week on my bike and ride for errands around town.I am sure there are some weekend days that I may not have ridden, but not many.

yeah same here, "winter" for us is two weeks of rain, and temps in the 40's (santa clara, CA)
so I rode everyday, but it hardly qualifies as "winter"
(which is EXACTLY why I live here)

Road on the one day with snow, both days with ice. There were probably 10 day or so that I just didn't have an opportunity to get on the bike (had to go directly to a client instead of the office, didn't leave the house on a Sunday etc) but the vast majority I put down at least a few miles.

This winter has been the snowiest in the last 30 years and there have still only been <10 days where riding didn't make sense- walking to work was actually faster and safer. Other than those, I've been having a blast. I dropped my gearing to 39-17 and when the new snowbanks appear it's still easy enough to just motor through them.
Still, I would rather be riding in 20C sunshine than -5C flurries, no question.
snow sucks. its cold. its officialy spring. woot woot.
its portland. what else would i do?

Winters are nothing in Seattle, unless you don't like rain.

Barring one day where I couldn't get my road bike to the major road (due to excessive snow and horrible traction and no MTB on the road at the time) and a few days when I gave in to strepthroat/flu right at New Years, I've ridden every day pretty much.
Coldest I felt was -19C + wind of ~50km/h giving a windchill of -32C according to weather.com
It's still ****ty cold with the windchill even now, though it does seem to finally be warming up.
Winters are nothing in Seattle, unless you don't like rain.
Ditto for Vancouver BC and Edinburgh; both are similarly wet and cold in the winter, although Edinburgh gets pretty windy too.

i rode every day this winter.
if it was too bad for a long ride, i would at least ride the two mile round trip to class and work a few times a day.

I just did sit-ups on my living room floor. Riding in the cold and rain is for the working class.

**** man, I got layed out on a slab of ice just today and bashed the butt of my hand where I chipped a bone a couple months ago. It was just starting to feel better and now I'm back to square one. I'm ready for the end of this winter thing.

I rode to work every weekday and sometimes on the weekends. Went down a total of three or four times, but never to any serious detriment, thankfully.
That ice jumps at ya in the darnedest places.

I rode every day, but it doesn't count for anything, because the most I had to deal with was a rain storm. Thank god for temperate California weather!
