I am touring in a few weeks on my 2007 Downtube NS. Can someone post the steps to disassemble and grease the bottom bracket and reassemble and what tools are needed? Thanks

My 2005 is a cup and cone design. You can go to sheldonbrown.com for detailed directions.

A while back there was a lot of discussion about the Downtube bottom brackets. The main point to come out of those posts, is that you're better off replacing the stock bottom bracket with a cartridge one. In the end it ends up being a better deal (time, money, etc)

The other thing is that it appears some of the bottom brackets were overtightened. I do all my mechanics, but when I came to this one, I tried to do it myself, put as much muscle into as I dared, and then took it to Harris Cyclery where they replaced the bb.

I don't like to pay for bike mechanicking as I feel I can do it myself (usually), but in this case I thought it was a worthwhile investment -had I burred the cup, it would have left me with little recourse.
