And why would a mother leave a 2 year old child in the care of someone who can't get out of bed?

I remember when I was about 6 a huge guy fell on me when we were at a baseball game. It was really terrifying - I was fine but shaken up for a while.

I don't see anything really funny about it - just incredibly sad :(
