Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Planet Bike Superflash vs Blinky 7 vs Cateye TL-LD1100

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
As the proud owner of two new Blinky 7's, I must say that I am amazed at how bright they are. When compared to my old modified 5 LED Blinky (~50,000 mcd), the Blinky 7 totally overwhelms it in all directions. IIRC, the older Cateye TL-LD1000 was around 50,000 mcd, and it was certainly no slouch.
SO, does anyone have comparisons between/among the Superflash (which is brighter than even the Blinky 7, albeit the superflash is highly directional from what I hear), the Blinky 7, and the TL-LD1100? What about mcd ratings of the Planet Bike lights? If the Planet Bike lights are really that much better than the Cateye, then I see Cateye being in trouble since they also cost more.
I have both the SF and the TL-1100. The TL-1100 is much more visible during both daytime and dusk. At night the Cateye also wins due to the size of the beam it projects. The TL-1100 has much better side visibility.
FWIW my 80 year old mother-in-law also thinks the TL-1100 is the more visible light, and she's your target audience.

I don't know why I didn't notice 'til now, but I finally read the Blinky 7 description and that it says that its LEDs are aimed five ways.
So, to which directions do they point?

All the LEDs are 5 mm sized ones, but as I previously noted, they are incredibly bright. They are arranged as follows. Three point straight back. Two are pointed 45 degrees, and the remaining two are pointed sideways.

The Superflash and the Cateye are considerably better than the blinky 7. They are both good lights. It's not a huge difference between them. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. But I would favor the Cateye. It's just a little better.

I might get a Blinky 7 to pair with the Superflash I've already got. Each would make up for the weaknesses of the other.
