Anybody know much about the redline cross bikes? I saw more than a couple last weekend and they look pretty sharp. Besides, it meshes with my mountainbike philosophy - a company that cut it's teeth on BMX can't make a bad mountain frame.

a couple of friends of mine ride redline conquest pros. they seem like solid, well-built frames. the geometry is pretty standard cyclo-cross geometry. they are also very stiff and quick frames. on the down side, they're rather a bit heavier than the kona or the fuji.

Does this sudden interest in a new bike have anything to do with your betrothed cheering you on at last week's race with the priceless exhortation: "You don't have to quit...you can just go slower!"? Or is it about the point?

I took a test ride on a redline conquest.(not the pro) this weekend and really enjoyed it. Be aware though that they measure their bikes differently than most. I rode a 48cm redline and a 52cm Jake the Snake and they were about the same size. I also weighed them back to back and the redline was over a pound lighter than the Jake! That's the conquest with all tiagra components! I was pretty surprised, as were the techs at the shop. So the conquest pro is probably real light. As far as the ride, it felt very upright and tall and I felt very confident putting all my power on the pedals without it getting twitchy. The fork chattered a bit though when braking over a rough surface. I would definately try before you buy if you have the opportunity, as this felt very different than other cross bikes I've ridden. I hope this helps, lemme know if you have any other questions.

if you are going up towards the Bagdad it's on the right maybe a half mile before the bagdad. I think the frames are actually touring frames but they look just like the cross frames and are very light. This was about a month ago so I don't know if he still has them in stock. Check the redline web site to see the frame, it was all red.
