anyone know of a good chain whip that also removes lockrings? I have a smaller tool but it really sucks and is nearly impossible to remove the lockring, i hear shimano has good tools...

This set has both. For such a low price, it's a really useful set. I maintain/upgrade/etc five bikes with that set, works beautifully.

make sure its 1/8" cause you might eventually need 1/8" and you can use a 1/8 on 3/32

I have the same kit, and it's worth it, but it has nothing for lockrings.

Why not just get a chainwhip and a lockring spanner?
I've got a Shimano one with both.

I got careless with my Hozan C205 lock ring tool and chipped it up so the teeth were unreliable. Hated to throw it away so I drilled it out and turned it into an 1/8" chain whip. It was surprisingly easy to drill and works fine.
The duraace tool has booth and comes with a 1/8" chain.

just drill three holes in any thin lockring tool and attach two pieces of chain. there's an explanation in the diy thread.

thats the one I snagged.
Why not just just use the rotafix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotafix) method for cog removal and get a good lockring tool?

QFT.
In fact, let's quote this a few more times:

Yep.
Bonus reasoning : the euro-asia 'supertool' thingie is only good up to a 16t cog. Do you really want to limit yourself like that?
