I'll be biking through Austria and Germany this summer and flying out of Frankfurt airport. My ticket is for the 29th of August, although I'm still considering staying a bit longer. Anybody live in Frankfurt and know where I can get a bike box to use to bring my bike home? I'll also need to make or buy some kind of a block for my fork. Any good bike shops?

Thanks in advance!

I've been going to the local Bikemax cos I'm lazy, but a colleague of mine has recently told me that there's a good shop called Brügelmann's in Sossenheim (which is basically Frankfurt).

Wish I had seen this thread earlier. Fahrrad Thöt in the city center has boxes available. Though, I was at the airport recently, and they have boxes there for those who need them. Tape and other packing stuff can be bought at the post office in the airport too.

Awesome!

Any idea how much the box and packing materials would cost at the airport? I somehow imagine that the post office will charge an arm and a leg for tape and bubble wrap.

Was about 5 or 10 bucks. Not much.

I'll be biking in France this summer beginning August 2nd and am looking for riding partners. One idea I had was to travel East from Aix, St. Remy, Carcassonne, Foix, then north through Cahors, and ending in Jonzac. Thinking about 100 km per day. Depending on interests of riding partner(s), I could be flexible with routes and dates-I'll be in France until Aug. 17th departing from Nice.
